Customer Identification at Checkout

How to Identify a SpenVest Customer at Checkout

Understand why and how staff should identify a SpenVest customer before completing payment.

Before payment is completed, staff should identify the customer by scanning their SpenVest QR code or entering their SpenVest member code, then attach that customer to the sale using the workflow supported by the merchant's POS. This ensures the completed transaction can be linked to the customer's SpenVest account for eligible SVC attribution.

Identification only — not payment or redemption

This process identifies the customer only. Payment is still completed through your normal POS workflow. Scanning the SpenVest code does not redeem SVC, does not reduce the sale total, and is not a payment method. The merchant completes payment normally in their own POS.

Customer identification is the link between your POS transaction and the customer's SpenVest account. Without it, the transaction cannot be matched to the customer for threshold progress, SVC attribution, or retention tracking. Staff should always complete this step before finalising payment so the sale can be attributed correctly.
